Product Review: Macaroni and Cheese at Lena’s Soul Food

I thought Lena’s first home–the one that used to have the dollar menu–was closed. Now, I’m not sure. Drive by and see. Regardless, although Lena’s has expanded, and may only exist in the new larger location (where Soul’s used to be), I’m still writing this review based on one of my experiences at the old location.

I hate that I waited so long to start writing reviews. When I first encountered Lena’s, the food was excellent. Somewhere along the line, though, it became mediocre. I’ve never made an effort to notify any of the staff of my concerns. I will eventually, though.

In the meantime, take this crumb, and do what you will.

Product(s): Macaroni and Cheese

Contact Info.: http://www.lenassoulfoodcafe.com/high-street-cafe, 510-842-3510
Location: 1462 High Street, Oakland, CA  94605
Cost (of these products): $3.00 (before tax)
Date of Visit: March 29, 2017 (Late Post)

Rating: 18/20= 90%
Basis:
Purchase Process – 5 (When this location was open, you’d stand in line, then pick what you want as you move closer to the register. The staff members make sure they’ve included everything you’ve requested. There was a huge menu that spanned the back wall of the serving area. The items were organized, and the text was large enough for nearly anyone to read.)

Customer Service – 5 (Folks were kind and attentive, but not overbearing. )

Product(s) – 3 (Unfortunately, someone else had began making the macaroni before I’d gotten the gumption to start posting reviews. The macaroni used to be firm and seasoned to my liking. On this visit, though, it was an underwhelming cheese mush thing.)

Product Usability – 5 (The individually packed side item comes with a fork and a re-usable lid.)

That’s it. See ya’ next time.
